Art in the area is well established, but could be said to follow something of a proscribed formula, much of it being geared to the tourist market. We believe that Blandford Fine Art is the antidote to this! We feel passionately about the issue and believe in art for art’s sake; bold colour and texture, with a contemporary, modern feel. We want paintings whose artists show real technique, imagination, flair and a proper understanding of the use of colour. The Northern Artists’ interpretation of both the natural and the industrial landscape demonstrates all these styles and traits in abundance. In the past LS Lowry, his friends Harold Riley and William Turner and others, such as Alan Lowndes, have dominated the naive approach to industrial scenes but the likes of Theodore Major, Geoffrey Key, Liam Spencer and Donald McIntyre have shown that Northern Art is not just limited to the gritty grind of the decaying industrial landscape. And now, up and coming artists such as Michael Ashcroft, Stephanie Dingle (pupil of William Turner), Alan Knight and Angela Wakefield are continuing the legacy of great Northern art.
Investment potential is an important theme at Blandford Fine Art. Interest rates leaves money wasted in the bank, property is no longer the investment it used to be and the stock market has lost all credibility. Art prices have bucked the trend and have shown to be recession-proof. Furthermore, the Northern Artists that we represent at Blandford Fine Art look underpriced and undervalued compared with those promoted by London and their work is competitively priced against what you will pay in and around Manchester.
We have worked hard to make sure that the gallery represents some of the best artists in the North today. You will find work by established artists including Liam Spencer, Geoffrey Key, Peter Stanaway and Reginald Gardner as well as those up and coming already mentioned.
Corporate art is also something we specialise in and more can be found on the subject on the CORPORATE page
All in all we have art to suit every taste and recommend a visit. Please have a browse of this web site and we look forward to seeing or hearing from you.
